Cardiac surgery focuses on the treatment of diseases of the heart and the major vessels close to the heart. Typical conditions include coronary artery disease, heart valve disorders, enlargements of the great vessels, and diseases that lead to disturbances of the heart rhythm.
A special emphasis is placed on gentle and minimally invasive treatment methods. Together with our patients, we develop an individualized treatment plan that discusses all available therapeutic options and allows for a shared decision regarding the optimal therapy.
For the treatment of heart valve diseases, several approaches are available depending on the patient’s medical condition and risk profile, including:
- Catheter-based procedures through the groin, often performed while the patient is awake
- Minimally invasive surgical procedures using small incisions
- Conventional surgery through a full sternotomy, when medically appropriate
This broad spectrum of options enables us to provide each patient with a tailored and optimal treatment strategy.
